Membership Application Process

There are 4 types of membership, each one with different requirements that must be met. These are not all inclusive, if you are not sure what is required please contact the Membership Chairman or Committee member.

  1. Ordinary Membership

Canadian or Commonwealth Citizen

Federal Voting age

Military service, (Reg. /Res.) Police etc.

 

  1. Associate Member

Canadian or Commonwealth Citizen

Federal Voting age

Related to someone who qualifies for Ord. membership

 

  1. Affiliate Voting

Canadian or Commonwealth Citizen

Federal Voting age

Does not qualify for Ordinary or Associate membership

 

  1. Affiliate Non-Voting

Any Citizen from any Allied country, excluding Canada and the Commonwealth

Federal Voting age

Does not qualify for Ordinary, Associate or Affiliate Voting

Cannot vote or hold office.

Once your application is complete, submit it along with any applicable information (above) to the Bar Steward or Office. The membership committee will look at the application, and verify all information is filled out correctly and determine that the applicant is eligible for membership. The membership chair or committee member may contact you at this stage, if there is any additional information or clarification that is required.

Once your application is approved by the membership committee, the next step is to have your application approved by the General membership. Because this is a members club, it is the general membership that has the final say in the application process. This will take place at the first General meeting after the application is approved.

The next step, after approval of your application, is to arrange for you to attend a General meeting, at this meeting you will be initiated into the Legion. General meetings are held the 4th Sunday of the month (except July & Aug) at 2:00p.m. You will be contacted prior to the meeting to confirm that you will be able to attend, normally 2 weeks prior.

After you are initiated into the Legion, you will be required to pay your membership dues.
