Catch the Ace
Support the Barrie Legion and your Community!
When purchasing a $5 lottery ticket, select a number from 1 to 52, record it in the envelope selection box and write your name and phone number. Information displaying which envelope numbers are still available will be available with the seller of the tickets. Tear the stub with your name, phone number, and envelope selection and give it to the seller for placement in the Barrie Legion Ticket Drum.
On Sunday at 5 pm at the Barrie Legion, only one ticket will be drawn from the tickets sold that week. That ticket holder automatically win's 20% of the week's total from the ticket sales.
If the envelope number he or she selected does NOT contain the Ace of Spa\des, 30% of the week's total from ticket sales is added to the lottery jackpot, which will continue to grow until the envelope containing the Ace of Spaces is selected. The next week, the envelope number selected in the previous Sunday Draw will be crossed out (removed) reducing the available numbers and increasing your odds of winning the jackpot.
In addition to our Weekly Winners we have had several major winners when they find the Ace of Spades!
Who knows where the ace is?
The answer is, nobody! The lottery begins with a standard deck of 52 playing cards, which are shuffled, placed face-down and inserted into unmarked manila envelopes. The envelopes are then sealed, shuffled again, and then numbered from 1 to 52 and placed into a locked wall display at the Barrie Legion. All this procedure is Video Recorded.
Who can play?
Anyone over 18 years of age
Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are $5 each and are generally available for sale at the Barrie Legion every Monday through Saturday from 12 noon until 8pm and then on Sunday from 1pm until 4pm. We also have many Volunteers who sell outside the Barrie Legion and return the tickets each week prior to the Sunday 5 pm draw.
The Barrie Legion Catch the Ace Lottery is an approved Gov’t of Ontario lottery through the AGCO.
We began these lotteries back in 2017 as a way to assist the Barrie Legion to try to deal with projects and unexpected costs on our building and our property. We also identified eight community organizations that would also benefit from this Lottery.
Over the last 4 years, the Barrie Legion Catch the Ace Lottery has contributed over $200K back to the Barrie Legion covering projects including new Point-of-Sale terminals; parking lot asphalt repairs and line painting; a 3 year outside accounting audit, and major upgrades to our building entry and egress points mandated by the Barrie Fire Department.
In addition, we have contributed the following amounts to the following organizations
- Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County; (donation-to-date - $8,500)
