Message from your 2021 Remembrance Day Parade Marshall &  Poppy Campaign Chairman,

Fern Tailllefer

Greetings! I hope this message finds you well and in good health during these very trying times.  Well, another year has passed and COVID is still making itself an issue with the Nov 11th ceremony.

Once again, we will NOT be having a ceremony in downtown Barrie and no huge parade. There would be no way of controlling the crowd who would obviously want to participate and it would definitely contravene the Provincial Health guide lines.

It has been decided that we would do the same thing as last year. We will be having a private invited guests only ceremony upstairs at the Legion. Once again this list will be tightly controlled as we have to be careful of social distancing and be within the Provincial rules for gatherings.

My sincere apologies if you are not on the invited guest list but it has to be closely monitored and priority given to our veterans.

Downstairs Club Room and Centennial Room will also be open for a maximum of 50 people, first come first served and you will need to produce proof of both vaccinations in order to enter the building. You will also need to sign-in the book for contact tracing and wear your mask as per our protocol.

Rogers TV and CTV have been asked once again to attend and broadcast this ceremony so that the people downstairs can watch or watch in the comfort of your own home.

Live Coverage will be broadcast on Rogers cable 10.

For Rogers live streaming on Youtube starting at 10:30 am go to:

If you would like to purchase a wreath and have it pre-laid at our cenotaph outside the legion for the ceremony, please contact the legion and give your information. Cost of wreath is $80 and $20 for the ribbon.

All of the wreaths will be transported at the conclusion of the ceremony to the downtown cenotaph and positioned there for the next couple days.

The Legion has launched a respectful new way to help donors show their support. Attractive new yard signs are available to show caring for Canada’s Veterans during the Remembrance period and beyond. The recyclable signs are now available in limited quantity at our Branch.

Proceeds go into general revenue to support the work of our Legion Branch in helping local Veterans. Signs are approximately 24"×16", and are available at the Branch for $20 each Cash only. Thank you.

"They shall grow not old as we that are left grown old, age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them"

(Fern Taillefer: 1st Vice, Parade Marshall, Veteran Services Officer, Poppy Chairman)
